Hi, I’m Karen! I’m currently at a startup called Palate, wearing different hats in product management, design, and web development.
I studied Comparative Literature and Music at UC Berkeley with side helpings of computer science courses. My combined exploration of literature and technology led me to multimedia journalism at The Daily Californian, technical writing at Rakuten, and product management at Rakuten before I landed at Palate.
Through all these roles, I discovered a passion for studying the way storytelling and technology evolve together. Product design is the perfect outlet to explore this idea, for we use the storytelling process to develop technology, which in turn are platforms that allow people to express themselves in new ways. My favorite part of the job is hearing about our users’ personal experiences through field research.
I speak Mandarin and enjoy learning about languages and linguistics.
Born and raised in the Bay Area.
I’m a musician and composer.
No pets, but would love to pet your adorable dog.
